In Memory of D-Day veteran DON HOWKINS who has died, aged 105

Donald Howkins served as a gunner with the 90th Middlesex Regiment, landing on Gold Beach in 1944.
In 2019, we were lucky enough to film him in conversation in Arromanches with D-Day veteran Ted Owens. This is part of the chat where they have a little misunderstanding over Ted’s hearing aid!
We only had an hour with Donald but he was an absolute gentleman.

My grandad Graham and his best mate Bill were not at D-Day but were at Dunkirk. Grandad never spoke of it, but Bill shared many stories and needed to talk and get it all out of him. They were my quiet heroes. Miss them both so much.
