Donald Howkins served as a gunner with the 90th Middlesex Regiment, landing on Gold Beach in 1944.
In 2019, we were lucky enough to film him in conversation in Arromanches with D-Day veteran Ted Owens. This is part of the chat where they have a little misunderstanding over Ted’s hearing aid!
We only had an hour with Donald but he was an absolute gentleman.
